Le Mans - Blu-Ray - Region A

A real curio from the 70's again, this time with one of the biggest stars at the time being in a car most of the time and not saying anything.

There is no inter-character dialogue (in fact no dialogue at all, unless you include the race annoucer) for a full 37 minutes at the beginning. Its a brilliant example of how a film can be driven (no pun) along without the use of dialogue. Of course the action is not that complex, its cars racing in the 24 hour Le Mans race, but nevertheless there is implied relationship between a lot of the characters, even before one utters a word.

McQueen, a massive racing fan, must of loved doing this. Driving fast cars, a script with about 20 words on it and then more cars.

The car action is good, although things do get a bit stretched past the 90 minute mark. The picture and sound are excellent for such a niche catalog title. File under "Chewing gum for the eyes"
