Another brilliant Criteron edition, this time for a British legend, Kes.For a modern audience this must be absolutely bewildering for most, it is such a product of its time, but also its location, its characters and events.
Like only a handful of British directors, Ken Loaches filmic interests are so radically different than the norm, he takes pride of place with the very best of the UK's talent.
Although this is a tough recommend. It is not a feel-good film at all, in fact it is down-right nilistic.
Great picture and sound is a respectful mono. Great extras as alway from Criterion, possibly the only company out there make extras worth bothering with.
